With historic charm and industrial space, The Foundry on Broadway is Frankfort’s premier wedding and special events venue

History

Known locally for years as the “Mitchell Building,” this venue has done more than stand the test of time; it has lived and inspired the times.

In 1891 this building was raised as the Charles Stubenrauch Saloon. In 1936 it evolved into a business hub, becoming Frankfort’s Packard sales and service dealership operated by the Paul Miller Garage.

In 1945, the ownership transferred to Orby Jackson and Thomas Spaulding, who used the space as a wholesale fruit grocery and restaurant called the “Broadway Grill.” Over the next twenty years, several more businesses utilized the space, including a taxi service, an army surplus store, and eventually the Endicott Distributing Company.

In 1967, the building was transformed into Mitchell’s Clothing Store, and it was in operation until 2012 when its doors were finally closed.

The space has recently been revitalized and repurposed by local business owners who wish to respect and honor its history. With an airy, industrial loft feel, exposed brick walls, wood beam ceiling and more than 4,500 square feet of usable space, The Foundry on Broadway is a stunning and unique event space that breathes life into Downtown Frankfort.

frequently asked questions

about The Foundry on Broadway

What is the capacity?

Our seated dinner capacity with space for the dance floor is 200 guests and our cocktail reception (standing) capacity is 270 guests.

How late can we party?

The typical rental includes a six hour event, plus one hour for set up time and one hour of break down time. Friday and Saturdays, events can start and end whenever you would like, as long as you end by 12:00am. Sunday - Thursdays event rentals must end at 10:00pm.

What vendors can I use?

We have an open vendor policy, which means you may hire any vendor you choose. We also have a preferred vendor list that we would love to share with you; vendors on this list are licensed, insured, and pre-vetted by our team to ensure they provide elevated service and quality products. You may hire caterers that are not on our list; however, any caterer not listed will need pre-approval by our team. We ask that new caterers provide a copy of their catering license, come for a walkthrough of the venue, and agree to our cleanup rules. All vendors must provide a copy of their liability insurance at least two weeks prior to the event. Your caterer must serve any alcohol provided during your event; separate bartending companies or individuals are not permitted.

Do I need a coordinator?

Coordinators are not a required vendor for weddings at The Foundry, but we do suggest you have one! One of The Foundry’s event coordinators will be available during your event should you have questions or concerns regarding the space, however outside coordinators often provide a much more detailed service when it comes to the flow and management of event particulars. We have an amazing list of several wonderful vendors that can help make your event magical!

Do you have tables and chairs?

Yes! We have 24 60” rounds, and 200 chairs, but if you need more or are interested in another style, we will happily recommend a rental company! This is so each event can be unique and renters can have freedom in how they choose to decorate the space.

What about the floors?

Our floors are original and the history is evident in every step you take. Some guests decide to rent a dance floor, and some choose to dance directly on the polished concrete. We do suggest bringing some flip-flops for the ladies if you go that route!

Can I have my ceremony here?

Absolutely! There are plenty of layout options that will enhance your guest experience and maximize the space available. We can host intimate ceremonies of 25 or larger celebrations of 200 people - all without charging an additional fee! After the ceremony, guests will be directed to the Cooperage Bar next door for happy hour while the venue is arranged for the reception.

Where can our guests park for events?

There is a parking garage located directly behind The Foundry, with entrance from Catfish Alley. Additionally, parking is available along the side of most of downtown Frankfort’s streets.
